Shabu worth P1.6 million seized in Quezon; ‘high-value’ suspects nabbed

Quezon cops net P7.3 million worth of illegal drugs, 78 pushers in June operations

LUCENA CITY — Policemen in Quezon province arrested three alleged big-time drug traffickers and seized more than P1.6 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) in operations on Friday, March 7.

Quezon police reported that the provincial drug enforcement unit arrested “Vida,” 39, and her partner “Aaron,” 38, at 8:10 p.m.

The apprehensions took place after the couple reportedly sold P1,000 worth of shabu to an undercover cop in a transaction in Barangay (village) Ibabang Dupay in this capital city of the province.

The suspects yielded four plastic sachets containing shabu weighing 32 grams worth more than P1.2 million as per the valuation of the Dangerous Drugs Board.

The seized meth is worth P652,800 in the street market at the prevailing price of over P20,000 per gram, the report said.

The police also confiscated a motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspects in their illegal activities.

The report tagged the two arrested suspects as high-value individuals (HVI) in the drug trade.

HVI refers to financiers, traffickers, manufacturers and importers of illegal drugs, or leaders or members of the drug syndicates.

In Calauag town, anti-illegal drugs operatives raided the residence of an alias “Ato” in Barangay Sta. Maria around 10:45 a.m.

The raiders, armed with a search warrant, found seven plastic sachets containing 47 grams of shabu with a street market value of P973,080.

According to the police, the suspect, also classified as HVI, was a subject of complaints from residents due to his alleged illegal drug trade.

Quezon police are investigating the source of shabu peddled by the suspects.

The nabbed persons were detained and are facing complaints for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
