A VILLAGE official was critically shot in barangay Papan, Sibonga town, southern Cebu.
Silmar Celada, 28, was shot in the nape. The bullet exited through the mouth, said police.
Celada is a councilor in Cantularoy, a neighboring barangay of Papan.
Police are still hunting the suspect identified as Butch Carl Calrion.
Police said Celada was drinking with friends in a store around 2:30 p.m. last Thursday.
Celada left the group and went to a kamansi tree to relieve himself when the gunman approached him and opened fire, said SPO1 Aristedes Carillo, investigator of the Sibonga police station.
The victim was brought to a hospital in Cebu City.
Investigation is ongoing to determine if the attack was work related or due to personal grudges, said police. CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
