4 hurt as fire rips through homes in Old Balara

Four persons including a responding fire volunteer were injured in a fire that gutted at least 20 houses in Barangay Old Balara, Quezon City (QC) on Saturday.

According to a report from Radyo Inquirer, the fire, which started at 7:44 a.m., quickly spread through the residential with houses mostly built of light materials.

Those injured were identified as fire volunteer Virgilio Cabiga, 35 years old, and residents Yvon Cabunillas, Fernal Alvarado, and Marianito Banal.

Initial investigation showed that the fire started from the third floor of a house owned by a certain Maring Millabis.

Arson probers estimates the fire damage at least P50,000.

QC Fire District Fire Officer 3 (FO3) Glaiza Tioco said the fire reached the third alarm before being placed under control.  The fire was declared out at 8:31 a.m. /muf
