The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) welcomed on Tuesday the new feature of Grab Philippines to hide passengers’ destinations from drivers before accepting bookings.
LTFRB board member Aileen Lizada also lauded Grab for its unilateral decision to roll out the new feature amid backlash from the riding public against the transport network company (TNC).
“We welcome the move of Grab to mask po ‘yung destination,” Lizada told reporters. “At least now, ‘yung mga riders, hopefully, will have lesser cancellations.”
“We appreciate the move unilaterally done by Grab. Hindi na ho sila naghintay ng order ng LTFRB. Magandang hakbang, magandang measure ang ginagawa nila (They didn’t need to wait for LTFRB’s order. It’s a good move, a good measure done by them). At least, it’s all geared towards the riding public,” she said.

Grab Philippines country head Brian Cu announced on Tuesday that they would roll out the new feature to 25 percent of Grab drivers with historically low acceptance rate.
Likewise, an auto-accept feature for bookings will be rolled out on Friday, Cu said.
But an option to see passengers’ destination, Cu explained, would be available to drivers during the wee hours of the morning for “protection” purposes. /je
