LUCENA CITY – Police seized an estimated P1.3 million worth of fake cigarettes from a Chinese national in a raid here Saturday afternoon, police said.
Supt. Reynaldo Maclang, chief of the Lucena Police Station, said officers armed with a search warrant raided the residence of Andy Chua, 42, in Barangay 9 at around 4:30 p.m.
The raiders confiscated 256 boxes of counterfeit Philip Morris and Marlboro cigarettes, Maclang said.
The suspect was arrested to face charges for violation of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 8293). –Delfin T. Mallari Jr. /atm
