2 shot dead by suspected NPA hit-men in Quezon

LUCENA CITY—A government militiaman and a civilian were killed by a suspected New People’s Army (NPA) assassination squad in San Francisco town in Quezon province Wednesday night, police said.

A report from the Quezon police headquarters said Manolito Alcantara, 48, a member of the Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit–Civilian Active Auxiliary (Cafgu) and his cousin Randy Alcantara, 29, Small Town Lottery bet collector, were gunned down by alleged NPA hit-men in Barangay (village) Inabuan around 7:30 p.m.

The report said the victims were having dinner when three communist rebels armed with short and long firearms barged inside the house and shot

the victims. Manolito died on the spot while Randy died on the way to the hospital.

Police investigators tagged Joseph de los Santos alias “Ka Bingot” and “Ka Ken” as the alleged leader of the NPA assassination team.#  Delfin T. Mallari Jr., @dtmallarijrINQ, Inquirer Southern Luzon
