The Manila Police District (MPD) will put up checkpoints and conduct simultaneous anti-criminality and law enforcement operations (Sacleo) to curb “nefarious activities” during the holidays.

MPD spokesperson Supt. Edwin Margarejo said in a message to the media Friday that police stations would start conducting “Oplan Sita” in strategic points in Manila to target motorcycle-riding suspects.

“The concept of operation is the conduct of checkpoints Oplan Sita in strategic points/areas targeting undocumented/unregistered motorcycles,” Margarejo said.

He said the Sacleo would start on Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and every Friday until the end of the holidays. He said each police station has a target of confiscating or impounding 20 motorcycles.

Crimes, like theft and robbery, usually increase during Christmas season as criminals take advantage of the busy period.
