The Senate of the Philippines has suspended work as tropical depression “Maring” brings heavy rain and flooding in Luzon, including Metro Manila.

Senate Secretary Lutgardo Barbo announced on Tuesday, “No office work today (except for skeletal force, e.g. Security, maintenance) due to inclement weather especially floods.”

The Senate public order committee, chaired by Sen. Panfilo Lacson, was scheduled to resume its hearing on the drug war killings, including the controversial deaths of 17-year-old Kian delos Santos, 19-year-old Carl Angelo Arnaiz and 14-year-old Reynaldo de Guzman.

The state weather bureau raised Storm Signal no. 1 over Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
