DOJ forms panel of prosecutors to tackle Kian slay case

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has forms a panel of prosecutors that would handle the murder and torture complaint against police officers involved in the death of 17-year old Kian Delos Santos.

In an Office Order dated Aug. 29, 2017 but made public Wednesday, OIC Prosecutor-General Severino H. Gaña Jr. designated Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Tofel G. Austria, Assistant State Prosecutor Amanda L. Garcia and Associate Prosecution Attorney Moises Acaya.

The prosecutors will handle the murder and torture complaint filed by Kian’s parents Saldy and Lorenza Delos Santos against Caloocan City Station 7 chief, Insp. Amor Cerillo, PO3 Arnel Oares; PO1 Jeremiah Pereda, PO1 Jerwin Cruz, and several “John Does.”

The four were already relieved from their posts and placed under restrictive custody. IDL
