DAGUPAN CITY — Two tourists drowned in Pangasinan beaches over the weekend, police said.

In San Fabian town, 28-year-old construction worker Angelo Ayroso, 28, was seen floating unconscious in a shallow part of the waters off a public beach at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday (May 21).

Relatives told investigators that Ayroso, a resident of Barangay (village) Poblacion at Allaga town in Nueva Ecija province, was drunk when he plunged into the water.

He was taken to a hospital in Dagupan City but a doctor there declared him dead on arrival.

Relatives said Ayroso had a heart ailment.

Earlier on Saturday (May 20), Christian Uraga, 18, was swept by a strong current while swimming in the waters off Cabongaoan Beach in Burgos town also in Pangasinan at 1:10 p.m.

Uraga, a resident of Barangay Cristorey in Capas town in Tarlac province, was taken to a hospital in Dasol town but did not make it alive.  SFM/rga
