Eastern Police District (EPD) policemen will go on a “Bisikleta Iglesia” on Maundy Thursday in the cities of Pasig, Mandaluyong, San Juan and Marikina as part of their observance of Holy Week. EPD director, Chief Supt. Romulo Sapitula, said that he wanted to promote a positive perception of the police by showing that they were also “godly” and “aligned with God.” “Although we are on full alert status because of the influx of commuters [during] Holy Week, we must never forget to keep our faith in our Creator,” Sapitula added. Bisikleta Iglesia, he said, was part of the EPD’s strategy in uplifting the moral and spiritual values of its personnel and encouraging them to live a healthy and fruitful life. —Jodee A. Agoncillo
