At least 13 soldiers hurt in Army operations vs Maute Group

ILIGAN CITY – At least 13 soldiers have been wounded in continuing military operations against the Maute Group in Butig, Lanao del Sur.

Col. Roseller G. Murillo, chief of the Army’s 103rd Infantry Brigade based in Marawi City, said government forces continued with  ground and air assaults against some 300 members of the Maute Group who occupied the abandoned municipal town hall in Butig last week.

The military continues to fire 105 howitzers on known lairs of the group.

Butig town Mayor Dilanggalen Pansar said at least 90 percent of the town’s residents had evacuated.

Most of the evacuees are living with their relatives in nearby towns and in Iligan City.

Pansar said classes were also suspended./rga
