Classes in parts of Western Visayas suspended due to ‘Marce’

ILOILO CITY, Philippines—Classes at all levels in both private and public schools were suspended in most of Western Visayas early Friday beause of strong winds and heavy rains brought by tropical storm “Marce.”

The Coast Guard suspended travel of fastcraft plying between Iloilo and Bacolod cities and motorboats traveling between Iloilo City and Guimaras Island.

Classes were suspended at all levels in Iloilo City and most of Iloilo province, and the provinces of Capiz, Antique and Aklan.

Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan and northern Antique were among the areas placed under Storm Signal No. 2 while Guimaras Island was under Storm Signal No. 1.

No casualties or damages have been reported as of early Friday morning. IDL/rga
