The vehicle of the close-in security of Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II was shot Tuesday.

Aguirre said his security, Senior Inspector Ricaredo Sarmiento Marasigan, thought someone threw something at his red Hyundai Eon while he was driving along lower Bicutan around 5:45 this morning.

“He noticed that a hard object hit his car but he ignored it, Aguirre said over the phone.

“He only learned that the vehicle was shot when he arrived at my house. He said the left headlight was damaged,” Aguirre added.

The justice secretary said Marasigan already reported the incident to the police. It is still not known if the car was hit by a stray bullet or was intentionally shot.

When asked if the attack was a warning to him, Aguirre dismissed it, saying he was only doing his job.

Aguirre is currently in Cagayan De Oro on a speaking engagement. RAM/rga
