The Manila city government has released another P45 million for the allowances of the 4,600 members of Manila Police District (MPD).

Mayor Joseph Estrada on Thursday handed a check worth P45,992,500 to MPD Director Senior Supt. Joel Coronel, representing the second tranche of their so-called “peace and order allowances” for the year, covering the period from May to August.

Coronel said each MPD member stands to receive P10,000, at P2,500 per month.

For September to December, he said, the MPD personnel will get another P10,000 each, the official added, noting that City Hall had allotted P137 million for the local police in 2016.
