Drug suspect killed in mauling incident inside detention cell

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Philippines—A suspected drug pusher, who was on bail, was killed in what police said was a shootout on J. Borja Street, Poblacion 2 here on Friday afternoon.

  A report from Tagbilaran City Police said the suspect, identified as Cyril Lambo Ostia, a resident of Barangay (village) Guiwanon, Baclayon town, fired at policemen who tried to arrest him inside his rented house at 4:10 p.m.

  Ostia suffered gunshot wounds in the head.  He was rushed to Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

  A .38 revolver with 3 live ammunition, 2 big sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and various drug paraphernalia were recovered from the scene.
