1 killed, 2 injured in North Cotabato blast

Explosions at Myanmar's biggest jail killed at least eight people and injured 13 others, media reported Wednesday.

KIDAPAWAN CITY — One person was killed when a grenade launcher projectile went off near the house of the town mayor in Pikit, North Cotabato on Tuesday.

Two others were injured in the 6:30 a.m. incident that took place in sitio Baruyan in Barangay (village) Nalapaan, according to Superintendent Bernard Tayong, the spokesperson for the North Cotabato Police Provincial Office.

Killed was Ismael Dalagas Alagasi, 54, former village official, while those injured were identified as Menato Casanova, 33, and Datuali Balaguna, 29, both residents of Barangay Baruyan.

Police said the explosive had  been plucked from a farm and was to be surrendered to authorities when it went off. CDG/rga
