A magnitude 5 earthquake struck Davao Oriental on Saturday afternoon, state seismologists said.
In its bulletin, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tectonic quake was recorded at 2:40 p.m., two kilometers northwest of Governor Generoso town.
The tremor had a depth of 36 kilometers.
No damages have been reported, but moviegoers inside a mall in Davao City rushed outside when the quake struck.
Phivolcs said Intensity III was felt in Davao City, adding that aftershocks are expected.IDL
