Bodies of 2 missing in Laguna flashflood found

SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna, Philippines—A search team on Tuesday recovered the bodies of two persons who went missing after they were swept away by a flashflood in Majayjay town in Laguna province on Sunday, police said. Senior Insp. Marcelino Marcial, Majayjay police chief, said the two-day search ended after rescuers found the bodies of Vanessa Carillo and Bryan Alemania on Tuesday morning.

Rescuers on Monday found the body of Alemania’s six-year-old daughter, Christine Althea, seven kilometers from the Dalitiwan Resort in Barangay Ilayang Banga. The three were guests at a mountainside resort when a flashflood, triggered by heavy rains on Sunday, swept them into the Dalitiwan River. Marcial said rescuers had a hard time locating the bodies due to the strong current and thick mud in the river./rga
