MANILA, Philippines—Malacañang on Wednesday greeted former president and now Pampanga representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo a happy birthday after the Sandiganbayan first division decided to allow the former president’s family to join her at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) on April 4 to 6.
“Binabati po natin sya sa kanyang kaarawan at sana’y maging maligaya ang kanyang pagdiriwang kasama ng kanyang mga mahal sa buhay,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma said in a press briefing.
(We are greeting her on her birthday and we hope it will be a happy occasion with her loved ones.)
Coloma declined to comment on the decision and instead said they hoped Arroyo would have a pleasant celebration.
Arroyo, who is detained at the VMMC on plunder charges, turns 67 years old on April 5.
