Senate adjourns after electing new officers

MANILA, Philippines—The Senate adjourned its session around noon Monday after its members elected a new set of officers.

Senator Franklin Drilon is the new Senate President, senator Ralph Recto is the new Senate President Pro-Tempore, while Senator Alan Peter Cayetano is the Majority Floor Leader.

The Senate will resume later in the afternoon in a joint session with the House of Representatives for the State of the Nation Address of President Benigno Aquino III.
