Illegal drugs eyed in Lapu-Lapu killing
A 29-YEAR-OLD man was shot dead by still-unidentified assailants in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City Tuesday night.
Genmar Oporto died on the spot with a gunshot wound in the head.
Police said habal-habal drivers found the man slumped in a vacant lot in Vistamar Subdivision in sitio Soong II.
Police said a motorcycle and a car were seen leaving the area following bursts of gunfire.
PO3 Lydo Pinos said the killing could be drug-related.
Pinos said a pack of suspected shabu was recovered from the victim’s possession.
Pinos added that in the victim’s cellphone were his exchanges with someone regarding an illegal drug transaction.
The victim’s live-in partner told police that Genmar was driving a borrowed motorcycle when he left home.
