5 shot dead in Pasay

Suspects 'fired at will', police say

MANILA, Philippines — Five people were shot dead by motorcycle-riding suspects at the boundary of the cities of Pasay and Makati before dawn Wednesday, police said.

Chief Superintendent Jet Villacorte, Southern Police District chief, identified the fatalities as Chuckie Dy Cruz, 22; Francisco Cruz, 20; Raymart Saraza, 20; Andrew Lloyd Cruz, 23; and Rogelio Diala, 23.

He said the victims were crossing the Arnaiz Cementina Dolores Bridge around 2:30 a.m. when the suspects, onboard two separate motorcycles, cornered the victims and “fired at will.”

Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered 18 empty shells from a caliber.40 pistol.

The suspects, who wore full helmets, sped off towards Arnaiz Avenue in Pasay City after the incident.

The victims were all declared dead on arrival at the Pasay City General Hospital, the police official added.

A radio report said the victims were on their way home from a drinking session in Makati.

It also said the victims were related to each other.
