THE LOCAL powerhouses in the Small Basketeers Philippines (SBP) division made short work of their respective opponents at the start of the Milo-backed BEST Twin Tournament, which officially started last weekend at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu gym in Canduman, Mandaue City.
The reigning champions, SHS-AdC Magis Eagles downed the University of San Jose-Recoletos, 54-20, in a group A battle while last year’s runners-up University of San Carlos-South dominated the University of the Visayas, 41-25, in a group B encounter.
In other games, USC North dumped Don Bosco Technology Center, 66-15, while Cebu Eastern College (CEC) cruised over Southwestern University, 57-26.
In the Passerelle division, UV defeated USC South, 70-59, in a Group B match-up. University of Cebu (UC) scored its second straight win after an earlier loss, trouncing USJR, 57-51. Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) scored its first win after two losses as it outclassed Don Bosco, 60-57. Correspondent Jonas Panerio
