MANILA, Philippines — Most parts of the country are still expected to experience hot and humid weather on Friday, but residents of the eastern and southern portions of Mindanao were warned against a high chance of rain due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).

In a public weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the ITCZ continues to affect Southern Mindanao.

With this, Pagasa particularly warned residents of Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi against possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains caused by ITCZ.

Meanwhile, easterlies — or the hot and humid winds from the Pacific Ocean — affect the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, according to Castañeda.
