SC charges retired CA justice over lawyer’s murder

MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court (SC) has formally charged retired Court of Appeals Associate Justice Isaias Dicdican with gross misconduct over his alleged involvement in the murder of a lawyer in 2020.
SC spokesperson Camille Ting made the pronouncement during a press conference in Baguio City.
“Acting on the memorandum of Court Administrator Raul Villanueva dated March 24, 2025, the SC formally charged retired Court of Appeals Associate Justice Isaias P. Dicdican with gross misconduct for his alleged involvement in the murder of Atty. Joey Luis B. Wee,” said Ting.

The SC then directed Dicdican to file an answer within a non-extendible period of 10 days from notice.

With the charge being administrative in nature, Ting said Dicdican may face disbarment as a penalty.
“Another penalty for retired Court of Appeals justice possibly is he won’t be able to receive his pension anymore,” said Ting.
Wee was shot and killed by two assailants on November 23, 2020 at the ground floor of a building in Cebu City where Dicdican’s law office was located.
