MANILA, Philippines— A magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck off the shore of an Eastern Samar town on Wednesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Phivolcs’ bulletin said that the earthquake occurred east of Dolores town at 6:10 a.m.

The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 12 kilometers.
Phivolcs also reported its strength at Intensity II in Tacloban City, Leyte and Catbalogan City, Samar.
The quake was recorded at Intensity III in Can-Avid, Eastern Samar and Intensity I in Kawayan, Biliran; Borongan City, Eastern Samar; and Gandara, Samar.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs noted that no damage to properties and aftershocks were expected.
