P3.6-M unregistered chainsaws seized in Valenzuela City; 7 nabbed

Authorities raid a warehouse on April 15, 2025  in Valenzuela City and confiscated some P3.6 million worth of unregistered chainsaws. Seven persons were arrested. (Photo from PNP-CIDG) 

MANILA, Philippines — Unregistered chainsaws worth some P3.6 million were seized from seven arrested individuals in Valenzuela City, the Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP – CIDG) reported on Friday.

The operation took place at an agricultural machinery trading facility last Tuesday, yielding 241 chainsaws and 1,244 guide bars, the CIDG said in a statement.

 The suspects were identified as employees “Hui,” “Yutu,” and “Shane,” whom police noted as Chinese individuals; as well as “Dan,” “Rizza,” “Angeline,” and “Angeliz.”

The CIDG said the suspects face charges before the National Prosecution Service for violating the Republic Act No. 9175 or the Chainsaw Act.

RA 9175 prohibits the sale and distribution of chainsaws without proper permits and registration from the Department of the Environment and Natural Resources.
