MANILA, Philippines — Veterans will be given free train rides on the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT 3) line from April 5 to 11, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said in a statement on Thursday.

To get the free ride, veterans will only need to show the MRT-3 station personnel a valid identification card from the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO).

Veterans will be allowed to ride the train for free with one companion.

The MRT-3 management took the same initiative for veterans last year to celebrate Valor Day on April 9 and Philippine Veterans’ Week from April 5 to 11.

“MRT-3 recognizes the noble sacrifices and contributions of the veterans to the country during the Second World War,” MRT-3 General Manager Michael Capati said in the statement.
