MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck the waters off Verde Island in Batangas province on Sunday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
It was recorded at 7:49 p.m., five kilometers (km) southwest of the island.
Phivolcs said it was tectonic in origin and with a depth of focus of 10 km.
Instrumental intensities were felt in the following areas:
- Intensity V – Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro
- Intensity II – San Luis, Batangas City, BATANGAS; Abra De Ilog, Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro; Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro
- Intensity I – Sta. Teresita, Tanauan, Batangas; Magallanes, Cavite; Boac, MARINDUQUE; Victoria, Oriental Mindoro
