353 families lose homes in Sorsogon fire

Sea travel resumes in Sorsogon due to improved weather

SORSOGON CITY — Some 353 families lost their homes to a fire that hit the residential area of Pilar town in Sorsogon province Thursday noon, March 13.

Mayor Carolyn Sy-Reyes, in a Facebook post, asked for assistance for the families affected by the fire that broke out in Barangay (village) Banuyo at around 12:40 p.m.

Majority of the houses in the affected area, which is surround by waters, were made out of light materials.

The Bureau of Fire Protection in Pilar town has also responded in the area, but the fire has yet be controlled as of writing.

Details regarding the cause of the fire and the extent of damage it caused are yet to be released by authorities.
