Magnitude 3.4 earthquake jolts Quezon island town

LUCENA CITY — A magnitude 3.4 earthquake jolted the island town of Panukulan in Quezon province on Thursday, Feb. 6.

The Philippine Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tectonic tremor hit 46 km northeast of the municipality with a depth of 10 km at 12:55 p.m.

Phivolcs said it was not expecting damage or aftershocks from the earthquake.

Panukulan and two other municipalities — Polillo and Burdeos — are located on Polillo Island off Lamon Bay. It faces the Pacific Ocean in the northern part of the province.
