LPA forms east of Mindanao

The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring rains in Palawan, and parts of Mindanao while the easterlies will affect the rest of the country on Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Sunday.

MANILA, Philippines — The cloud cluster east of Mindanao has developed into a low-pressure area (LPA) on Monday morning, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The weather bureau also said in its latest tropical cyclone formation outlook that the LPA has a “low chance” of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

Given this development, the state weather bureau reminded the public to monitor updates regarding the LPA.

On Wednesday, Pagasa reported that a tropical cyclone may develop between December 16 and 22, potentially affecting Southern Luzon and the Visayas.
