3 lawyers named assistant solicitor general

The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) urged the Court of Appeals (CA) to reconsider its August 2022 ruling that nullified the provisional authority and cease and desist order issued by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) against News and Entertainment Network Corp. (Newsnet).

President Marcos has promoted three former senior state solicitors as assistant solicitor generals. Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra named the three assistant solicitors general as Jennifer Andialan-Legaspi, Sarah Mae Salonga Cruz and Jane Espineda Yu. They will be replacing Henry Angeles who was named to the Court of Tax Appeals, Peñafrancia Carpio-Devesa who reached mandatory retirement and Derek Puertollano, who was dismissed for three administrative charges of sexual harrasment. —ZACARIAN SARAO
