Alleged rebel slain in Sorsogon clash

LEGAZPI CITY — An alleged rebel was killed in a clash Tuesday between government troops and members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Juban town in Sorsogon.

In a belated report on Wednesday, July 3, Major Frank Roldan, spokesperson of the 9th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, said the 22nd Infantry Battalion had a 30-minute firefight with three NPA rebels in Barangay Biriran at 5:20 a.m.

Roldan said the slain rebel was still unidentified.

The government troops recovered an M653 rifle,l ammunition, and other personal belongings.
