MANILA, Philippines — A man was arrested for robbing a woman in Barangay Pio del Pilar, Makati City on Friday.

Authorities only gave the alias “Rod,” 42 years old, as the name of the suspect.

According to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), a 22-year-old woman, who was also unnamed, was returning home from work on Friday morning when the suspect advanced on her and threatened her with a knife, declaring a hold-up.

The woman called for help, and a third person intervened.

However, the third person who attempted to intervene was stabbed in the incident.

Law enforcement officers apprehended Rod and seized from him a “sumpak” (improvised gun) and a balisong, the NCRPO said.

Complaints of robbery hold-up and frustrated homicide are being prepared against him, authorities added.
