679 bodyguards recalled over barangay polls

The Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) of the Philippine National Police recalled all police officers acting as protective security personnel stationed throughout the country in preparation for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections on Oct. 30.

Of the total 920 protective security personnel across the country, 679 PSPG personnel were subject to recall.

Of the total number, 495 were responsible for safeguarding 285 government officials, while 425 were entrusted with the security of 309 individuals.

Police regional offices across the nation also conducted their recall activities, which were witnessed by Acorda through online platforms.

The recall order was in compliance with Commission on Election Resolution No. 10918, which outlines the rules and regulations on firearms or other deadly weapons, as well as the employment, engagement of bodyguards during the election period. —DEXTER CABALZA
