The Supreme Court on Thursday stopped the House of Representatives from detaining Cagayan Gov. Manuel Mamba for failing to attend a congressional inquiry into supposedly illegal expenditures during the 2022 campaign period. The high court also required two House committees as well as the House sergeant at arms to comment within five days on Mamba’s petition for certiorari against the contempt and detention orders. —TINA G.
