Starting Monday, representatives and employees of the House of Representatives will resume full-time, on-site and in-person work after three years of working from home.
The move follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s decision last week to lift the state of public health emergency in the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a memorandum dated July 25, Speaker Martin Romualdez said plenary sessions and committee hearings would now be conducted in-person after years of online hearings.
“Members of the House are enjoined to physically attend the plenary sessions and committee hearings in order for them to be able to participate and vote on any motion during the proceedings,” Romualdez said.
House Secretary General Reginald Velasco said the lower chamber will revert to “100 percent on-site workforce” starting Aug. 1. Official work hours will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays to Thursdays.
