MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila’s COVID-19 positivity rate increased to 2.4 percent in just a day, according to OCTA Research fellow Guido David on Sunday.

In a social media post, David compared the seven-day positivity rates recorded on Jan. 27 and Jan. 26, noting the weekly rate jumped from the day before, which was only at 2 percent.

He also noted that the latest recorded weekly rate is only slightly lower than the previous week’s or Jan. 25 st 2.5 percent.

“We will monitor this over the next few days to see if the trend continues upward,” he said.

Based on the Department of Health’s (DOH) online COVID-19 tracker, active cases are currently at 10,038, after recording 199 fresh infections on Saturday.

The country’s COVID-19 caseload, meanwhile, is at 4,072,844, with 3,977,049 recoveries and 65,757 deaths.
