Palace says Wednesday is full working day

MANILA, Philippines—It is unlikely for the executive branch to let government officials and employees go on half-day work on Holy Wednesday, Malacañang said on Tuesday.

Palace spokeswoman Abigail Valte said the country is already facing a five-day-long weekend starting on Maundy Thursday through Araw ng Kagitingn on Monday.

“Perhaps, you can ask your department heads if they want to declare a half-day (on Wednesday) but from the Office of the President, it seems there’s no such forthcoming declaration,” Valte said at a news briefing in Malacañang.
