Magat Dam releases water ahead of rain from Severe Tropical Storm Karding
MANILA, Philippines – Magat Dam in Isabela released water on Saturday noon in preparation for rain that will be dumped by Severe Tropical Storm (STS) Karding, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Pagasa’s Hydro-Meteorology Division said Magat Dam opened one gate at 12 p.m. and discharged 200 cubic meters of water per second (cms).
The following areas are likely to be affected by the water discharge from the dam:

Isabela Ramon San Mateo Aurora Cabatuan Luna Reina Mercedes Burgos Naguilian Gamu
According to Pagasa’s advisory, the water levels in the Magat River and in the Main Cagayan River Basin are still below the alert level.
However, Pagasa added that Karding is expected to further intensify into a typhoon and it may raise Signal no. 4 over affected areas in the northern and central Luzon.
