MANILA, Philippines — The number of schools participating in the progressive expansion of in-person classes has now reached 21,146, or 36.79 percent of all schools nationwide, according to the Department of Education (DepEd).
Assistant Education Secretary Malcolm Garma told a press conference on Tuesday that 25,173 schools have been nominated to hold in-person classes as of April 11, of which 24,476 are public schools while 697 are private schools.
“Our objective really is for all our schools — 100 percent — to be able to gradually and safely shift again to [in-person] classes,” he said.
