OLONGAPO CITY — The city reported zero new cases and deaths related to COVID-19 on Sunday, October 17, local data showed.
It was the first time that the city logged zero new infections since registering its first COVID-19 cases at the onset of the health crisis last year.
The city’s active cases also dropped to 198, its lowest in recent months, after nine more virus-infected patients were cleared of the disease.
In a statement, Mayor Rolen Paulino thanked all front-liners and the city’s residents for fighting the pandemic.
So far, the city has already recorded 5,377 confirmed COVID-19 cases but at least 4,888 of them had been healed already.
The city’s death toll stood at 291, the same data from the local task force showed. INQ
