Eastern Samar rebel surrenders to military

A ranking rebel leader died in an encounter in a remote village of Borongan City in Eastern Samar on Saturday, Jan. 6.

TACLOBAN CITY––A female rebel has surrendered to authorities in Eastern Samar.

The woman identified as “Ka Guya,” “Cindy,” “Kim,” or “Claire,” served as the vice commanding officer of Platoon Caloy Squad that operates in Gen. MacArthur town and neighboring municipalities.

The female rebel, 28, surrendered to Regional Mobile Force Battalion officials under Col. Glenn Cinco and Capt. Norman Kiat-ong, Jr. of the 802nd Maneuver Company.

She is supposed to receive livelihood and financial assistance as promised by the national government for rebels who surrender.
