BACOLOD CITY––Nine more residents of this city, four of whom were from the same household, have contracted the highly contagious COVID-19 Delta variant.

One of the four, a 57-year-old male, had died, said City Administrator Em Ang, Emergency Operations Center executive director.

This brings to 21 the total number of Bacolod residents confirmed by the Philippine Genome Center to have been infected with the Delta variant.

Ang said five of the new Delta cases in Bacolod are from Mandalagan, three from Villamonte, and one from Alijis.

All nine patients were symptomatic.

The houses of the Delta patients, who were tested again for COVID-19, have been locked down pending the release of their results, he said.
