Worker in Quezon province nabbed for illegal possession of firearms

The group Bayan Muna decried that one of its organizers was arrested, while the Philippine National Police reported one officer was hurt due to tension at a Bonifacio Day protest along Recto Avenue in Manila.

LUCENA CITY—A 41-year-old construction worker was arrested Tuesday for illegal possession of firearms in Pagbilao town in Quezon province.

The Pagbilao police reported that cops responded to a commotion involving an armed civilian in Barangay Talipan around 11 a.m.

Noli Masapol did not resist arrest and surrendered to the authorities two .38 guns loaded with 11 bullets.

The suspect failed to produce the necessary documents for the said firearms.

Masapol was detained at the local police jail and facing charges for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition under the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
