UV, CEC beat rivals in friendly matches

THE University of the Visayas (UV) Lancers scored a come-from-behind win over the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras, 64-58, while the Sacred Heart School (SHS) Ateneo Baby Eagles routed the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Baby Dragons, 82-53, Sunday night in a couple of friendly games as part of the upcoming fiesta celebration of barangay Lagtang, Talisay City.

The Cobras led in the first three periods behind Jestoni Casquejo and dunk-shot artist Justine Aboure, but cooled down in the closing minutes of the fourth allowing the Lancers to steal the win.

Eman Calo’s fast-break lay-up with 48 seconds left gave UV its first taste of the lead, 60-58, while Rene Saycon added four crucial baskets down the line for the Lancers’ six-point win.

Calo led the Lancers with 15 points while Jestoni Casquejo and Justine Aboure paced the Cobras with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Earlier, the SHS-Ateneo Blue Eagles dominated the entire match en route to the 29-point demolition of CEC.

Randel Senining and Aaron Syngh led the Eagles with 20 and 14 points, respectively while Loter Huevas paced the Baby Dragons with 11 markers. /Correspondent Dale Rosal
