AFP releases names of 19 of 49 military fatalities in C-130 crash
MANILA, Philippines—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Wednesday (July 7) released the names of 19 of 49 military personnel who died in the July 4 C-130 crash in Sulu province.

The AFP said it has transported the bodies of 11 of the identified fatalities to their hometowns. They were Captain Emeterio, Sgt Maestro, Tsg Agana, PFC Rollon, PFC Provido, Pvt Gabas, Pvt Alquisar, Pvt Lumanta, Pvt Angana, Pvt Carmona, and Pvt Monera.
Tato’s remains were transported on a C295 aircraft while seven of the identified bodies were being prepared for air and land transport.
Deaths among military personnel stood at 49 as of Wednesday. Sobejana earlier said there were 50 fatalities, but clarified that there had been a double count.
The July 4 plane crash in Sulu, the country’s worst military aircraft disaster in recent history, killed a total of 52 people—49 of the 96 passengers on board and three local residents.
The military earlier said it was having difficulty identifying the charred remains. The plane crashed and burst into flames after it overshot the runway in Jolo and crashed into a forested area in Patikul town.
