MANILA, Philippines — To address its current passport backlog, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has opened more temporary passport application sites in five malls in Metro Manila.

READ: DFA opens 177,500 additional passport appointment slots with 5 new sites

These are located in SM Mall of Asia, SM North Edsa, SM Aura, Robinson’s Place Las Piñas and Robinsons Magnolia, according to DFA Undersecretary Brigido Dulay.

“With these additional offsite centers, we hope to dramatically reduce the high demand and clamor for passport appointment slots particularly in the National Capital Region Plus area where the demand for passport is highest. We also hope this would resolve our current backlog,” Dulay told reporters.
